If you had asked me when I was a kid which Christmas I thought was the best I might have said the one where I got an ARTI video game system or some really cool G.I. Joe action figures and
accessories. As I think back now the Christmas that probably shaped my future more than any was the one that I got a cassette tape recorder. I spent hours in my room playing records as I did my dee-jay bits complete with commercials, weather, trivia, jingles ... you name it.
My professional start began when I did voice overs for commercials at an AM station in my hometown. In 1991 I became a weekend announcer on a 50,000 watt FM station in Albany, New York. Eventually I became the full time noon to 6:00PM on air personality. I hosted a three hour childrens' format on Saturday
mornings called Conductor Marty's Sonshine
Express with Hoppy the Horse.
In 1994 I accepted a full time pastorate and within two years the church had grown to the point I did not have the time to remain in radio. However,
I did produce a thirty minute weekly radio program of my messages for several years called Ever Devoted. The Lord opened many doors for me to be able travel and speak while pastoring. I authored two nationally released books and produced over two dozen Tape/CD/DVD albums. After 15 years
of pastoring the same church I resigned. Today I live in Florida with my
wife of seventeen years and our four children. I am the host of a very non traditional Christian radio format called the DRIVE @ 5 which features a
unique blend music, talk, rants, raves, devoctional chats, trivia, and MORE.
The program is fun. It's upbeat. It's going to change the way you think about
Christian radio AND the church.
